In 1973, Showa Ika Kohgyo was funded as a sales company specializing in medical devices. While dedicating to the widespread use of artificial kidney for the convenience of patients undergoing dialysis, we started developing in-house products. We started importing and retailing foreign advanced medical devices in 1989 and are now distributing orthopedic devices to medical institutions nationwide.

In the field of spinal surgery requiring particularly sophisticated techniques, we have been rated highly as an indispensable company to distribute spinal fixation systems in Japan. In March 2003, we obtained ISO13485:1996 and ISO 9001:1994, international standards for quality control for medical devices, and also received ISO9001:2000 certification for quality management in April 2003. With our credo of being the best partner for better health care, we devote ourselves to further medical development in Japan.

We have been making strenuous efforts in developing world-class spinal fixation systems and in ensuring quality equal to or greater than that provided by competitive global manufacturers. For this purpose, it is essential to promptly introduce cutting-edge medical technology and cooperate with specialists who are at the forefront of health care. We have established a business model in which we jointly develop own-brand products with orthopedists in our specialty of spinal surgery and distribute them to medical institutions nationwide. With a sense of mission to develop products tailored to the Japanese body shape and constitution, we have been developing various in-house products. In addition, we make considerable efforts to ensure reliable quality by cooperating with production plants overseas and establishing an in-house quality control system. As a medical partner providing advanced products, we are determined to continue contributing to medical care.
